The Climate: Although Turkey is situated in a geographical location where climatic conditions are quite temperate, the diverse nature of the landscape, and the existence in particular of the mountains that run parallel to the coasts, result in significant differences in climatic conditions from one region to the other. While the coastal regions enjoy milder climates, the inland Anatolia plateau experiences hot summers and cold winters with limited rainfall.
The city was the first Lycian town along the coast is Fethiye, which sits a top the ancient city of Telmessos. The tombs in the nearby mountains date from the seventh century B.C. At Fethiye visitors can see Lycia’s other famous ancient architectural form-the huge sarcophagi that are found all over the area. In fact it can be said that Fethiye boasts some of the best Lycian in the region, going back to between the 6th and 3rd centuries B.C. While you’re in there be sure to visit Turkish Lagoon - Oludeniz (Death Sea) where amazing chrystal water of the coast, specially recommended for swimmers (15 km to Fethiye). Region also know by the fans of Mountain Paragliding available on the Babadagi. Also there are very delux hotels around for accommodation.
